Cumberland Hospital 2015

Present Day Cumberland Hospital is under threat from the New South Wales Government, UrbanGrowth the commercial arm of the Baird Government want to build high rise buildings. Parramatta residents are calling for an immediate freeze on plans to build more than 4000 apartments at a site considered to have "more heritage than The Rocks" ( early plans said over 6,000 units). Occupied by the NSW Health this green space is used by the community to get away from the high rise in Parramatta Central Business District.

The fete is a major fundraising event and all money raised goes back to the hospital to help rehabilitate patients and enhance their stay. 

Some of the major attractions include the Parramatta RSL Caledonian Pipe Band, dance troupes, DJ Luke, karaoke, and wood turning displays.

Western Sydney Local Health District director of Mental Health Services, Dr Senthil Muthuswamy said the Wisteria festival is a spectacular community event for the whole family. (Quote from Parramatta Sun)
